You can change the text size in Things on your Mac, iPad, iPhone, and Apple Watch.
Here’s how to change the size on each device:
Mac
Unlike other devices, the Mac doesn’t have a system-wide Dynamic Type setting. This means that the text size is controlled by a setting inside of Things itself.
- On your Mac, open Things.
- In the menu bar at the top of your screen, click Things → Settings → General.
- Next to Text Size, drag the slider to find a suitable size.
At larger sizes, a slight dampening is applied to the size in your sidebar. This allows you to boost the size of your content on the right without making your sidebar feel too cramped.
Requires macOS 10.15 or later.
iPad & iPhone
On iPad & iPhone, there are three ways to change the text size.
System Settings
By default, Things will automatically follow your system-wide Dynamic Type setting. Here’s how to adjust it:
- Open the Settings app.
- Go to Display & Brightness → Text Size.
- Drag the slider to adjust the size.
Note that this will change the text size for all the apps on your device that support Dynamic Type.
Control Center
You can also adjust that setting via your device’s Control Center:
- Open Things.
- Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to reveal Control Center.
- Tap the Aa button.
- Choose whether you want to adjust the size for All Apps or Things Only.
- Drag the slider to adjust the size.
Things Settings
We’ve also added an option to override the system setting. Here’s how to choose a custom size:
- Open Things.
- Tap Settings → Appearance → Custom.
- Drag the slider to adjust the size.
At larger sizes, a slight dampening is applied to the size in your iPad’s sidebar. This allows you to boost the size of your content on the right without making your sidebar feel too cramped.
Watch
On Apple Watch, Things will automatically follow your system-wide Dynamic Type setting. Here’s how to adjust it:
- On your Apple Watch, open the Settings app.
- Go to Display & Brightness → Text Size.
- Tap Aa to increase or decrease the size.
Note that this will change the text size for all the apps on your Apple Watch that support Dynamic Type. There is no way to set a custom size just for Things.
