MailToThings

UPDATED: See new script since release of Things 1.1.2

Please note: This article has been contributed by a user.

I have made two Applescripts to add the content of a mail message to Things' inbox:

The first one is intended to send yourself automated inbox items for Things and is supposed to run as a mail action.

It works as follows: Download the script 'MailToThings' with this link and store it in a place at your convenience. In Mail->Preferences->Rules add a new Rule with the condition: 'Subject' 'Contains' Add to Things (or some other distinct subject) Perform action: 'Run Applescript' (select the 'MailToThings' script here)

Now make sure both Mail and Things are running. Send yourself an email with 'Add to Things' (or the subject you have chosen) in the subject and your reminder in the body of the mail and it wil be added to your Things inbox

The second one is a little program made with Applescript which can transfer any selected mail message to Things. Fire up Things and select one ore more message(s) in Mail.app you want added to Things' inbox and run this program.

Please note that both Applescripts are Q&D projects mainly for my own convienience and will have some rough edges. For instance: don't rename the second program or it will stop working. I am not a professional programmer nor an experienced Applescripter, I only use Applescript as it was original intended: for my own convenience. Maybe when I have some more time I will polish it, but not now.

If you like to comment on these scripts or have a question for me, please post your remarks in this thread of the forum.
