Setting up a computer-to-computer network (FAQ)

This is a workaround if you have problems setting up syncing between your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad and your Mac. Follow these instructions to set up a computer-to-computer network between your Mac and your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad (which is considered as a computer here):

  1. On your Mac, click on the AirPort icon faq-wiki.png in the menu bar (upper-right hand side of the menu bar)
  2. Choose "Create network" and enter a network name and a password (if you want added security, check the corresponding box).
  3. Connect your iPhone to this network. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi on the iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, select the network and enter the password you selected.
  4. Start Things both on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad and also on your Mac. On the Mac, go to Things > Preferences > Devices and follow the on-screen instructions. (Please note that Things has to be running on your iPhone, otherwise your Mac cannot detect it).

You should now be able to sync your Things Mac and your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad using the computer-to-computer network.
