Please note that by re-installing Things on your iPhone or iPod touch, all your to-dos on your iPhone or iPod touch will be removed as well if you do not take precautions. This is desirable in case you're syncing with the Mac app and your iPhone and Mac show discrepancies in their data sets which can't be adjusted by re-pairing: a subsequent sync with the Mac app effectively works as an import from the Mac app. If you want to re-install and keep the latest data that has been backed up scroll down to Re-installing Things touch with data preservation.
- If you're syncing with the Mac version of Things, go to Things > Preferences > Devices and remove the pairing with your iPhone or iPod touch.
- Delete Things on your iPhone or iPod touch. To do this, tap and hold the Things application icon for a few seconds, then tap the "x" appearing in the upper right corner of the icon.
- Connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your Mac. Wait until iTunes has started and your iPhone or iPod touch has appeared in the source list.
- Select your iPhone or iPod touch in iTunes' source list.
- Go to the Applications tab and check/enable "Things". Click the "Apply" button.
- After the process is complete, a fresh copy of Things should appear on your iPhone/iPod touch. Things will likely appear on the last screen of your iPhone/iPod touch apps.
- If you want to sync with the Mac version of Things again, go back to the iPhone settings in Things on your Mac and start the configuration process.
Re-installing Things touch with data preservation
- In iTunes on your computer open Preferences... > Devices and check "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically". With this option checked, a sync (and hence a backup of your iPhone data) can only be started by selecting the iPhone in the iTunes sidebar and clicking the Sync button. See: How do backups work? (FAQ).
- Connect your iPhone to your computer via USB cable.
- In iTunes double-click on your iPhone listed in the sidebar and choose Restore from Backup...
- After the restoration has finished disconnect your iPhone or iPod touch from your computer and re-download Things directly on your iPhone or iPod touch if applicable, see: Installing Things for iPhone/iPod touch (FAQ).
